More good news! The contract is signed, so I can officially announce that Diabolical Plots will be publishing my dark fantasy story “Falling through the Cracks” sometime next year!

August 2026

I’m excited to share that I’ve had another story accepted! “The Great Umi” is a dark fantasy, alternating-POV flash piece that will be appearing in Flash Fiction Online! (Likely publication date is this winter.)

This story is the first I’ve written that draws heavily on my experience living and studying in Japan. I found myself revisiting the sights and sounds of the Obon festival as I wrote it, which is fitting since the annual festival is held in August. I can’t wait for it to be out in the world!

July 2026

I attended my first Readercon in July, and now I get what all the fuss is about. It did not disappoint! I had great conversations with top-notch writers and editors, Elizabeth Bear, Scott Lynch, Neil Clarke, Scott Andrews, Diana Pho, just to name a few.

The panels were engaging and topical, especially a knockout panel I attended on “Morally Gray” Characters featuring, among others, Elizabeth Bear and Guest of Honor P. Djèlí Clark. It. Was. So. Good.

June 2026

I’m thrilled to announce that my debut short story will be appearing in Analog Science Fiction and Fact! (More details to come when I have them.)

I’m very proud of this story and its journey. Last year, the story was nominated for the Mike Resnick Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Short Story by a New Author. Now it will be published in one of the top science fiction magazines. This is the good kind of disbelief.

January 2026
